Environmental Policy

Storm recognises that every individual and organisation places an impact upon the Environment and we all have a duty to act responsibly. We are all facing serious global issues such as the threat of Climate Change, which is affecting Society at all levels - Global, National and Local. This will impact on our Economy, Communities and Environment. As a Creative and Multimedia Company we are in a unique and privileged situation to encourage and inspire others to act ethically leading by example.

Our Aim

We aim to identify and minimise our own key Environmental Impacts, act responsibly and ethically, comply with all relevant environmental legislation, and be accountable by reporting on our own performance.

By 2010, we aim to make Storm 'Carbon Neutral' by minimising our carbon footprint, and offsetting what remains.

Action Areas

To minimise our environmental impact, we will address the following key areas:

• Energy Consumption
  We will seek to increase the energy efficiency of our buildings, equipment and operations, and if financially feasible, will purchase Electricity produced from Renewable Sources.
• Water Consumption
  We will seek to minimise our water consumption by utilising water efficient appliances in our buildings, and rainwater harvesting for our garden.
• Transport
  We will seek to minimise our business miles and use public transport where appropriate and feasible.
• Waste & Recycling
  We will seek to minimise our waste and where possible recycle what's left.
• Procurement
  Where financially sustainable, we will seek to purchase products that limit their impact upon the environment especially with regard to paper and inks, and energy use by equipment. This will also be taken into account when procuring services and supplies from other companies and organisations.

Reporting

Starting March 2008, we will report annually on the following:

• Energy consumption (gas and electricity) in our buildings.
• Water use in our buildings
• Car miles travelled on Business
• The overall Carbon Footprint of the company, including emissions arising from:
  • Transport Car Miles, Bus, Train and Flights
  • Energy use in our buildings
  • Waste sent to Landfill

(This report will be checked and verified along side our annual accounts.)
