Osborne were awarded the best stand of the show due to the concept and detail that had gone into designing their stand.
To engage with local authorities and housing associations to demonstrate Osborne's ethos in building and developing communities.
The theme was about working with communities from the start of a build through to an ongoing partnership and legacy in the future. The key message was working in partnership to build lasting, lifelong communities.
The idea was to work with a local school, Kender Primary School (headmaster Keith Barr), to educate them about the construction industry through "A day in the life of a worker within construction". The children were then asked to write an essay about this and draw a picture entering into a competition with the winners work being an integral part of the design of Osborne stand. The 15 winners were given the opportunity to see their work come to life by visiting show in Brighton. Through their learning, the children were able to engage other exhibitors with technical and probing building questions! The children's behaviour was exemplary and as an added bonus, for many, this was the first time they had ever been to the seaside. There was great enthusiasm about the project with the primary school children who helped design the stand through their 'Day in the life' experiences. Drawings from the children were included on the stand design.
