Osborne awarded 'Best Stand in Show' at CIH Brighton 2011

Storm celebrate as Osborne are awarded the Best Stand in Show due to the concept and detail that had gone into designing their stand.

Storm worked closely with Osborne to design and build a themed stand titled "Developing communities. Transforming lives". It was designed to communicate how Osborne work with communities from the start of a build project through to an ongoing partnership and legacy in the future.

Osborne is working in partnership with Hyde Housing Association on the Kender Estate. This is a phased development of an existing estate which when completed will provide about 470 new homes for rent, shared ownership and market sale. As part of their community focus Hyde and Osborne decided they needed to connect with local children and approached Kender Primary School and agreed a programme of events for the school year to enhance children's understanding of the housing and construction industry.

One such project was "A day in the life of a worker within construction". The children were asked to write an essay about this subject and draw a picture to accompany it. Their projects were then entered into a competition with the finalists work being used as an integral part of the design of Osborne stand.

The 15 finalists were given the opportunity to see their work come to life with a visit to the Osborne stand at the CIH show in Brighton. Through their learning, the children were able to engage with other exhibitors with technical and probing building questions!
